STATEMENT OF THE MISSION OF OBSERVERS FROM THE CIS INTERPARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY ON RESULTS OF VOTING AT THE ELECTIONS OF THE PRESIDENT OF UKRAINE ON 17 JANUARY 2010

The 33rd Plenary Session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations will take place

The resolution "On preparation for celebrating of the 65 anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945", accepted at the thirty second plenary session of Interparliamentary Assembly of the Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States on May, 14th, 2009

In connection with the OSCE PA Resolution "Reunion of the separated Europe: encouragement of human rights and civil freedoms in the OSCE region in the 21st century" (Vilnius, 3 June 2009) we publish the Declaration of the Saint Petersburg International Parliamentary Conference dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the victory of the anti-Hitler coalition in World War II (15th April 2005, Tavricheskiy palace, Saint-Petersburg).

The text of the declaration was approved unanimously by the IPA CIS Council, PA CE Bureau, and also by plenipotentiary delegations of the PA NATO, AWEU, CSTO, IPA EurAsEC, Nordic Council, UN, PA BSEC, Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia. It mentioned that participants of the conference recognized a resolving role and invaluable contribution nations of the Soviet Union to the victory over fascism and in the Second World War, confirmed their gratitude and admire before their great self-sacrificingness and sufferings, which should never been committed to oblivion.

The participants of the conference "consider it necessary to join up efforts of parliaments and governments of the countries of the world to suppress the attempts of revival of fascist ideas, racial hostility, political and religious extremism and any totalitarian ideology, propaganda of Nazi symbology, work of parties with neo-Nazi doctrine, that appeared recently in certain states; particularly underline the inaccessibility of fascism rehabilitation on the public level".

The International Parliamentary Conference on European Security will be held on 13 July 2009 in Kiev.
