Statement by the Chairman of the IPA CIS Council Sergey Mironov
With sincere dismay and pain do we receive messages from the Kyrghyz Republic, a member nation of the CIS, a strategic partner of the Russian Federation, and a co-founder of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS.
The events in Bishkek and other towns of the Republic led to numerous casualties, destructions, looting of administrative buildings, and to the decreased governing capacity in the country.
Basing on the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs, and with respect to the will of the Kyrghyz people who is most indignant and discontented with the policy of the authorities, we encourage all the sensible forces in Kirghizia to avoid new civilian casualties, stop the waves of destruction, vandalism and forays, and to start using immediate peaceful means of resolving urgent problems.
